I've been testing and testing all week long and never got a postive OPK. I had to call the clinic yesterday morning anyway (you have to call them by 10am on Friday if there's any chance you'll be coming in over the weekend), so I took the opportunity to ask the nurse if "this is normal?" I've never gotten a positive OPK this late in my cycle; today is CD 14 and I usually get them on days 11 or 12. She said it's totally normal; especially if there are multiple follicles and/or larger follicles than normal. Eek! Hopefully there aren't too many in there...I don't want to cancel the cycle, but we aren't going to take any crazy chances either.
The nurse had told me that if I didn't get a positive by this afternoon, they'd need to see me in the office Sunday morning (7:30am!) for bloodwork and an ultrasound. Needless to say, we were both pretty anxious to just get the postive so we could schedule the IUI.
Not sure if insomnia is part of the "side effects"; or maybe it's that my lower abdomen is sooo tender, that I can't sleep on my stomach like I normally do...but sleep has not been easy the last couple nights. I was wide awake at 6am this morning (yes, it's a saturday!). I tried to force myself to go back to sleep, but my mind was racing. Finally at 7:30 I got up and took an OPK (yes, I'm supposed to take them in the afternoon, but I thought, "what can it hurt? I'll take another one later if need be..") and there it was! The prettiest lil smiley face I've ever seen!
I'll admit...I squealed just a bit...then ran into the bedroom to show Hubby. I'm sure he loved being woken up so early on a Saturday morning, with a pee-stick in his face, no less! He immediately got a big smile on his face. You'd have thought it was a pregnancy test with all this excitement!
Cross your fingers for us tomorrow! Hubby will need to be to the clinic by 8am for "his part"...then we'll be back there for the IUI at 11am. We were thinking about going together at 8am and then just hanging around that area (instead of making the 40min drive back home), but since it's a sunday, nothing will be open yet!
