So a little back story: Hubby and I live in the house that I "grew up in". Prior to my mom remarrying, she and I lived in a two family (converted into three-family) with her two sisters. Mom and I were on the bottom floor, my aunt, uncle and two cousins were above us, and in the converted attic, lived my other aunt. When I was about 11 years old, my aunt had the nerve to elope and marry my uncle. (Yup, still a tad upset that I never got to be a flower girl!) She moved out of the converted attic and shortly after that, my mom and I moved out and into our new "family home" about twenty minutes away. Needless to say, I was devastated. I'd always lived so close to all my family. With both of my aunts and cousins in the same house, and my gram a couple miles away... As crazy as it sounds, I told my mom (remember, I was 11 years old!) that I would someday move back into that house.
Flashforward 13+ years and LOTS has changed. Without getting into all the details (and causing this hormonal pregnant lady to cry), the three sisters still owned the house and the second floor was now empty. At the same time, Hubby and I had recently gotten engaged and I was hoping to begin grad school. Call it fate...call it the determination of an 11 year old girl who always wanted to move back to Burns Ave... but suddenly Hubby and I found ourselves making the decision to move an hour away...back to Burns Ave.
We spent that ENTIRE summer practically gutting the house...repainting, ripping up carpet, scrubbing every inch of the beautiful 100-year-old woodwork and ultimately making it our home. We've now been here 2 1/2 years. While I have my moments of wondering "what did we get ourselves into?!?"...I'm incredibly grateful that we were able to help keep the house within the family, as well as give Hubby and I a house full of memories during what turned out to be, a HUGE transition time for us.
Lil Kaylee nursery used to be my cousins' bedroom...then became our office/guest room. It will now be home to our precious lil lady...

Started off a blue with white trim...

Trying to decide which pink to go with...

Grandma and Daddy picked the bottom pink... "
Sleeping Beauty Pink". We're hoping there will be lots of SLEEPING in this room!!

Ugh!! Mommy looks like a truck ran her over...several times.

Had to clean out the closet of all my "stuff" to make room for all the clothes that Grandma has been buying! Notice the Yankee
onesie? For those that don't know...Hubby and I have a somewhat serious rivalry during baseball season. Looks like Mommy's winning so far!! ;)

New furniture up... as well as our
lil lady's name! We've gotten some grief over the spelling, but it seems to have died down since we added the letters to the wall! I guess they realize we're seriously NOT changing it now!

Her bedding from Pottery Barn Kids... never thought I'd end up there, but apparently cost is no question when it comes to "Daddy's
lil girl".
Haha! Wonder how long
that'll last!!

Butterfly Tree wall decal. Auntie D came down from Boston to help us put this up!! It definitely wasn't nearly as hard as I'd expected it to be! In fact, the monotonous peeling of the backing all day was kind of relaxing!

Auntie D also brought Kaylee a few early shower presents...including these 3D butterflies for around her name. So cute!

The proud Auntie Emma - my (almost) 11 year old sister. How do you suddenly become the coolest girl in your group of friends??? Become an Auntie at age 11!! I don't know whose more excited for her arrival... us or Emma!
